Abstract
We propose a blockchain-based user identity management service that supports a robust recovery mechanism for user identity. The proposed user identity recovery mechanism can recover the identity of the user who has lost his/her personal ID through his/her explicit request and the confirming process with the help of friends designated by the user in advance. In addition, we present the Ethereum smart contracts for the proposed recovery mechanism in Ethereum applications.
